Using Visual Supports for Autism

Autistic individuals often experience the world visually, making visual supports a vital tool in learning, communication, and daily interaction. Instead of trying to normalize behaviors, these tools respect neurological differences, fostering a more inclusive and effective approach. For the first time, I-CAN hosted workshops for parents, caregivers, therapists, and educators supporting children with autism.
By Merry Barua

Merry Barua, founder of Action for Autism and winner of the INSAR Advocate of the Year Award (2015), led discussions on how visual strategies can enhance learning and engagement while honoring individual strengths.

By expanding access to expert knowledge, this initiative ensured families and professionals across India could benefit from specialized autism support beyond the I-CAN network.
Together, we took steps toward meaningful change in autism awareness and care!

Divi’s Foundation for Gifted Children empowers neurodiverse kids in India with autism awareness, early intervention, development centres & family support.
